The meeting was called to order at 3:05 by FCTFA President Carie Siegfried.
Introductions: Sue Halem from Melanie Manor Apartments in Grove City introduced herself as this was her first meeting. Carie Siegfried also mentioned the new sign-in policy that will take effect starting at the June meeting. There will be a separate sign-in sheet for members and non-members. Paid members will be listed on the FCTFA web site. Non-members will be able to attend their first meeting free of charge. After that, non-members can join for $25/year or $5/meeting.
Officer Reports:
President, Carie Siegfried:
*Reviewed agenda - thanked host agency; new member introductions; explained how diligently individual committees are working - Advocacy and Philanthropy are working on getting new ideas, web site will be redesigned to better define FCTFA mission.
*A (slightly) revised mission statement was distributed. Carie asked that members review it and share ideas for changes before the next meeting. In June, a vote will be taken to accept the changes.
Vice President, Nicole Cha:
*Encouraged members to contact her with speaker suggestions for the Sept. meeting.
*Announced next month's meeting location and asked that members come prepared.
Treasurer, Monica Mayer:
*Current account balance is $2180.68.
*Dues forms are available at each meeting or on the web site.
Secretary, Bobbi Reed:
*Unable to attend meeting so no report.
*Meeting minutes were not reviewed/approved due to Bobbi's absence.
Committee Reports:
*Legislative - May is Older Americans Month and May 26th is Senior Citizens Day.
*Membership-working to implement an incentive program (ie: gift cards) for new member recruitment.
*Web site - working on revamping the homepage to include space for reports from the committees, will also categorize members into affinity groups (ie: by services provided). Meeting minutes and any additional updates need to be submitted to the Taskforce e-mail address no later than 1 week after each month's meeting for prompt posting (in the subject please write, "posting for FCTFA web site.")
*Advocacy - the collection of socks will be on-going; flyers were distributed regarding the current cleaning supplies drive and the group was asked to get colleagues and residents involved. The cleaning supplies drive will run thru the July meeting. The project for August thru October will be Meals-on-Wheels in conjunction with LifeCare Alliance - training for Meals-on-Wheels will occur at the July meeting. The project for November and December will be adopting a dining center (also thru LifeCare Alliance).
Old Business:
*Carie Siegfried gave special thanks to Debbie Russo from Interim Healthcare for helping at the Arthritis Walk. Debbie staffed the FCTFA booth.
New Business: none
Announcements:
*Wexner Heritage Village is having a health and wellness fair on May 27th from 10-2. Admission and parking is free!
*Social Seniors Adult Day Care Center will have an open house on May 21st.
Speaker:
*Jason Black was unable to present so Theresa Gavin filled in to present on "Lifeolio: Organizing Your Finances."
