MINUTES
Meeting started just after 3:00pm. Called to order by Monica Mayer, FCTFA treasurer. Informed the group that President, VP, and Secretary were absent.
Monica mentioned the new sign in procedure. All FCTFA members are listed on a sheet and each member should just mark they were in attendance. There is a sign-in sheet for all new members and guests.
Officer Reports:
President: reminder to committee chairs to turn all updated info to Brad Draper by the 3
rd Thursday of the month for the website.

VP: next meeting will be at Sunrise of Worthington, presentation is a meals on wheels training by LifeCare Alliance. All future meetings are on www.fctfa.org.

Committee Reports:
Legislative: Digital TV transition is Friday June 12, E-HEAP Summer assistance starts July 1st, Food coupons for Market waiting list – All information will be posted to website
Membership: no report
Website: meeting with web designer on Monday
Advocacy: still collecting cleaning supplies and socks.
· Bill with LifeCare Alliance reported they have taken supplies to over 90 clients.
· Reported that the labels for the supplies are on hold due to printing issues. Jarvis Law Firm offered to donate the labels.
Old Business:
Drawing for new members/guest will happen in July. Didn’t have a prize for the June meeting.

Madison County hospital is hiring a Marketing position
Arthritis Foundation and Franklin County MetroParks partnering on the Slow Walk in the Park events. Next event is July 9th at Sharon woods MetroPark at 10am. These walks are for seniors and are one mile or less.
OSHIIP- hosting Welcome to Medicare event at OSU Fawcett Center on Tuesday June 16th from 6-8pm. No RSVP’s required but information portion of event will start at 6pm.

WeCare Health Center is a 100 bed Skilled Nursing Facility that accepts Medicaid, Medicare and private pay. Offers physical theraphy, occupational therapy, and rehab. Currently undergoing remodeling in the front area.
Guest Speaker: Joyce Johnson, “Laughter Yoga”
Joyce Johnson is the outreach person for the Breathing Association’s COPD program. She often goes into a senior’s home to help with breathing issues. She also presents often to seniors about breathing issues. Through this experience she came across a program called “laughter yoga.” She is now a trained laughter yoga instructor and often uses this training in the senior’s home or at senior groups. Laughter yoga started in Mumbai, India. The purpose is to get the benefit of laughter and the relaxation of yoga at the same time. For more information go to

Joyce then preceded to lead the group through a laughter yoga session. It was fun for all!
